I was developing lessons at the time, concentrating on the international history of Japan which is what I teach, developing ideas which make students feel more part of the world, part of the global culture, instead of just feeling insular. I remember when it was, it was just over ten years ago, just over eleven years ago I was researching the life of William Adams.
